And Clinton is right that there “are no perfect people” but for Clinton and Obama to okay Sen. Byrd’s “ends to a means” process to get elected. What is the bigger message that Clinton and Obama revealed that they may not have meant to? Did Sen. Byrd really reverse his views on minorities? While it is documented that Sen. Byrd has voted for every President Obama initiative prior to his death; yet every time a minority, specifically black, person come up for Senate confirmation I have yet to find one he voted for.

Does that speak more than voting for Democrat agenda items? I appreciate your two cents.tthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09917268285666551114noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9075324469668918466.post-2588396325580278482010-07-07T09:11:21.866-05:002010-07-07T09:11:21.866-05:00Chris, I don't think someone being a member of...Chris, I don't think someone being a member of the KKK is a good thing. At all. But I wonder if, in remembering this man's life, President Clinton was trying to key in on the good things in his life? I personally don't see redemption in one's life, no matter the offense, and recognizing that as hypocrisy. Granted, I do not know for sure if what Clinton said is true of this man. I just don't think that we should hold others accountable for their sins, for the rest of their lives. If we do - we must then hold ourselves accountable. Forgiveness is conditional. And as Clinton said "there are no perfect people".

Now - this all sounds like I'm defending the guy. I don't mean to. I just think, given the context (his memorial service), these statements might be appropriate. It doesn't take away his wrongs in life. It only remembers what he tried to do to correct it. I think THAT is what Clinton was trying to emphasise, not the justifications for his actions. More how he tried to, even imperfectly, correct it.

Just my two cents. And it's probably not even worth two cents. :)

TedAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
